Katie Hollowed
Katie Hollowed is the Burn Program Manager for the South Carolina Burn Center at MUSC. She has been a burn nurse since beginning her career at Loyola University Medical Center in 1982. After 7 years she relocated to the Washington, DC area where she continued to grow as a bedside ICU burn nurse until her transition to the full-time position as the Outreach Education Coordinator in 2000. In that role Katie provided education on burn care to first responders, emergency departments, urgent care centers, nursing & medical schools, as well as prevention & awareness programs to the members of the communities. In 2019 she was recruited by MUSC to become the program manager for the South Carolina Burn Center. Her role is very diverse although education remains the highest priority to ensure that all South Carolinians who suffer from a burn injury receive the highest quality of care. She has been a member of the American Burn Association since 1983, served on numerous committees & the Board of Trustees. One of Katie’s main goals as a member of the ABA is to develop a Burn Nurse Certification which will come to fruition this year!
