Have you been dreading that difficult conversation with a subordinate? Anxious about a confrontation with a fellow employee? This interactive class will help you with tangible tools to face others with facts and feelings of a problem and ask for change. We will discuss the communication cycles, motive, people’s preference styles, how to send and receive confrontation messages, listening to responses, and the impact of inspiring change by our words and actions.

Ryan Kunitzer is Fire Chief of St. John’s Fire District located in the Charleston, SC area. Chief Kunitzer began his career in Saginaw, Michigan as a Firefighter in 2006 before moving to the Charleston area in early 2012. Prior to St. John’s Chief Kunitzer worked for the Charleston Fire Department as a Captain primarily focused on community risk reduction, community engagement, and public information. St. John’s hired Chief Kunitzer in 2016 as Chief Fire Marshal. In 2021, Chief Kunitzer was selected as Fire Chief. He holds a master’s degree from the Citadel and is a 2022 graduate of the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program. Chief Kunitzer serves on the Board of Directors for the Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic.
