Do you have the desire to teach other fire service personnel? Do you want to be a Training Officer or Training Chief one day?  This class will give you a step-by-step road map for the career path to fulfill the goal of becoming a department Training Chief/Officer, whether you are a career or volunteer firefighter.   The job of Training Chief/Officer is more than having a few Instructor Orientation Workshops.  This class will point you to many resources that will guide you in the right direction to become or be a better Training Chief/Officer.

Alex Long

Alex Long is the Division Chief of Professional Development for the South Spartanburg Fire District and a 20-year fire service veteran.  He has volunteered, worked part-time, and full-time for organizations with numerous variable differences. He is an active fire and EMS instructor. He loves sharing any knowledge he has or gains to improve those around him.   Alex started his instructor journey by teaching at the company level, then moving to bigger audiences of department personnel and fire academy classes.  He holds his Chief Fire Officer and Chief Training Officer delegations from the CPSE, is a graduate of the Managing Officer Program at the National Fire Academy and the South Carolina State Firefighters Association Leadership Institute and holds formal education degrees in business and fire service administration.  Alex is married to his wife Sara and has two children.  He loves spending time with his family, being outdoors, and investing in the fire service.
