Friday, June 16, 2023
2:00 PM – 3:15 PM
The fire service operates on best practices backed by science. Scott Feather at Fire-Rescue 2023 is presenting Training Today for Tomorrow’s Fireground, a lecture focused on how to embrace the fire service culture while using science and technology to our advantage. Attendees will look at initial instructions of new members to training the current staff. This course is for anyone with a passion for the fire service, a desire to pass on the traditions started long before us, all while encouraging educated and aggressive firefighters.
Scott joined the fire service in 1992 as a volunteer in Tennessee. Scott then spent eight years in the United States Air Force as a firefighter before joining Colleton County Fire-Rescue in 2001. Scott joined the department as a Firefighter/EMT and rose through the ranks as an Engineer/Paramedic, Lieutenant/Paramedic and Captain/Paramedic. Scott currently serves as the battalion chief in charge of fire training, developing and delivering in-house curriculum to career and volunteer members. He creates a yearly training schedule that covers firefighter and special ops training and coordinates request classes to be held in-house through the South Carolina Fire Academy. Scott, awarded twice for valor, is an adjunct instructor at the South Carolina Fire Academy and has led CCFR’s Explorer post since its inception in 2007.
