Psychological trauma has a unique way of throwing us into an alternative world full of unknowns, loss, and confusion.  Dorothy and Alice’s journeys have a similar parallel to what each of us may encounter when thrown into this strange land.  These ladies will allow us to explore what that journey looks like without hitting any triggers.  During this journey, we will explore how to grow and successfully navigate that new-found world and ways to navigate it to get back “home”.

Angie Stewart

Angie Stewart is a firefighter / paramedic with 31 years of experience in the medical field and 3 years as a firefighter.  She is a coordinator with SCFAST (South Carolina First Responder Assistance and Support Team) since 2015.  SCFAST was the first all volunteer first responder team in the nation.

In 2016, after seeking professional help for work related issues, she was diagnosed with PTSD, anxiety, and depression.  Her clinician empowered her with homework and tools where her focus is now on PTG.
As a peer for first responders we often heard “they (clinicians) dont understand what we do”.  Wanting to give back to the clinicians that help with responders, she co-founded “Mile In Our Boots” clinician academy.  Our first academy was in 2022.  From our research, we could not find another academy like this for clinicians in the nation! This academy focuses on the four professions that make up our first responders (Fire, EMS, Law Enforcement, and Communications / dispatchers) and puts the clinicians through scenarios that will give them a sense of relevancy to those responders when they are in the clinicians office.
